The Fishes' Ball
The shrimp went off to the fishes' ball
Wearing a top hat and snails.
He'd borrowed six squid from a loan shark
And got a new jacket from Wales.
He wanted to find a damsel fish,
An angelfish or dace;
Perhaps a piano tuna who,
Might take him to her plaice.
But midnight found him desolate -
He felt he could linger no longer.
The sexy octopus he'd found
Had injured him during the conger.
It hadn't been like a dance at all
But more of a strenuous tussle.
The partners he'd sought, left the shrimp overwrought
And all that he'd pulled was a mussel.
